An Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) is issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which is the U.S. tax collection agency. The number is for non-residents who need to file a tax return due to taxable income (such as some scholarships), but are not eligible for a Social Security Number (SSN). The SSN is only issued to working non-residents.

Regarding Delinquency, late payments can lower your credit score by up to 180 points and remain on your credit reports for up to seven years. However, lenders typically report late payments to the credit bureaus after 30 days, which means your credit score won’t be hurt if you pay within those 30 days. They may, however, charge you a late fee.

Creditors must wait at least 30 days to report late payments to the credit bureaus. While this may be good news for your credit score, you can still walk away unscathed. Some creditors will charge you a late fee.

Avoiding late payments is important because they can cause your credit score to drop a whopping 180 points if they appear on your credit report. Your credit report is a compilation of your credit activity calculated to determine your credit score.

Your credit score is a key principle, very important when deciding whether you qualify for forms of credit such as auto loans, credit cards, mortgages and personal loans.

It may remain on your credit report for more than seven years from when the account was initially reported late. However, the impact on your credit disappears over time.

A foreclosure is a legal process by which a lender attempts to recover the amount owed on a defaulted loan by taking possession of the mortgaged property and selling it. Typically, default is triggered when the borrower misses a certain number of monthly payments, but it can also occur when the borrower breaches other conditions of the mortgage document.

Bankruptcy helps people who can no longer pay their debts get a fresh start by liquidating assets to pay their debts or creating a repayment plan. Bankruptcy laws also protect financially troubled businesses.
